Earle Decker

Grew up with Dave in Pinellas Park. Met him in elementary, then began to hang together in Middle school. Was my best friend, my brother!  Loved hanging out with him at his house with his youngerbrothers running around, his mom puttering around and his dad always busy outside in his garden or working on his truck!  We both joined the USMC, him a year before me, but then we were both stationed together for his final year. Gonna miss him and not seeing him at the next class reunion!

Yeah ...there were 5 of us ...The 5 Amigo's, of course Dave, Doug Humphrey, Earle Decker, Jim Mort and myself Jim Hasick. Four of us met while in elementary school, same middle school and NEHI. Doug became part of the gang  in middle school. The adventures and stories of us could fill volumes, some funny and some well ...we weren't saints! Like Earle ..I recall elementary riding our bikes to school and sometimes I'd stop by Dave's house and have breakfast with the family. And many times it was in the evening ...I mean let's face it an Italian Mom cooking ...come on what could be better. It was an open door policy. We all ventured away after high school ...it was a time of war and we all served our country with honor and distinction. But we always managed to stay in touch on a periodic basis. I didn't expect Dave top leave us so soon, he wa a picture of health and maintained that throughout his life. I think that is why this is was so hard hitting for the rest of us.

As I stated to the rest of the guys, Dave's death kinda pissed me off because the % Amigo's had so more to experience as a group and with our spouses. I know Sue is devastated and we all morn for her and the family as well untold number of friends. Heart felt thoughts and prayers to them all. Rest in peace my dear friend and I'll see ya on the other side.
