RAYMOND, GEORGE EDWARD NEWELL, 83, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 1997) at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Born in Stoneboro, Pa., he came here in 1955 from Meadville, Pa., where he was a faculty member of Meadville High School. A graduate of Grove City (Pa.) College, he received a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado and taught science at Northeast High School from 1955 to 1978. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and First United Methodist Church. Survivors in clude his wife of 57 years, Jeanne; a son, Robert N., Auburn, Wash.; a daughter, Kristi Rosende, Citrus Springs; a brother, Philip C. Kelley, Cochranton, Pa.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Woodlawn Funeral Home, St. Petersburg.
