SUTHERLAND, JAMES DEE "JIM," 53, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (Dec. 7, 2000) at home after a short illness. Born in Dowagiac, Mich., he came here in 1951 from Sister Lakes, Mich. He served in the Navy. He was employed at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg as a nursing supervisor. He was an avid Bucs fan, graduated from Northeast High School in 1965 , and attended St. Petersburg Junior College School of Nursing. Survivors include two sisters, Sue C. Hollen and Sally A. Engle, both of St. Petersburg; and a brother, James Hollen, St. Petersburg. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel, St. Petersburg.

I first met James "Jimmy" Sutherland when we had classes together at Lealman Elementary School. He was one of the nicest, kindest individuals I've ever known, and I am saddened to hear of his passing.
