Ervin H. "Butch" Wheeler

Ervin Harold "Butch" Wheeler was born in Cleveland, Ga on February 1, 1947 and died in Tampa, FL on June 23, 2020.  Cardiac arrest was the cause of death.

Butch was preceded in death by his mother Kathryn Wheeler, his father Joe Wheeler, nephew Rocky Connell and brother in law, John Connell.  Survivors include his two sons, Scott Wheeler, his wife, Jennifer, Todd Wheeler and his son's mother, Suzanne Hartline.  Grandchildren, Rubee Jean and James Scott Wheeler.  Three sisters, Wilma Suddarth, Beverley Griggs and Elizabeth (Cookie) Connell and many nieces and nephews.

Butch moved with his family to St. Pete in 1947.  He attended Northshore Elementary, Meadowlawn Jr. High and Northeast High.  He proudly served in the US Army in the 502nd Intelligence Battalion in Korea and the Big Red One Infantry Division in Vietnam.  He was a point man and the youngest Sergeant in Vietnam during 1966-67, where he earned his C.I.B. and Purple Heart.  He worked many years at Big Wheel Automotive and Enterprise Business Park.

Anyone who knew him would say..."What a great guy...you can't be around him without smiling."  He will be remembered as a loving, sincere, kind, generous and thoughtful person.  He will missed by his family and friends.  Celebration of Life will be at a future date.

Nancy Allen (Diemer)

Butch was Richard's best man at our wedding June 21, 1969. He was Richard's closest friend in Florida. Sadly, we lost contact with him when we decided to stay and live in Kodiak, Alaska in 1971. May he Rest In Peace.
